The Three “One Men” — Adam, Abraham, Moses

• Romans 5:12 — Sin entered the world through one man

• Romans 5:19 — Through the disobedience of one man, many were made sinners

• Genesis 15:6 / Romans 4:3 — Abraham believed God, and it was credited as righteousness

• Exodus 31:18 — God gave Moses the two tablets written by the finger of God

• Galatians 3:19 — The law was added because of transgressions (its purpose was always temporary, pointing forward)

Life still hard — the law cannot give peace

• Romans 7:15 — I do not understand what I do; the good I want to do, I do not do (the inner conflict the law exposes but cannot resolve)

• Romans 7:24 — What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

• Hebrews 10:1 — The law is only a shadow of the good things coming, not the realities themselves

• Galatians 3:21 — If a law had been given that could give life, righteousness would have come by the law

We couldn’t overcome our guilt

• Hebrews 10:3-4 — Those sacrifices were an annual reminder of sins, because blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sin (the guilt kept returning)

• Hebrews 9:14 — How much more will the blood of Christ cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death (the only answer to guilt)

• Romans 8:1 — There is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus (the resolution your text is building toward)

• Psalm 32:3-4 — When I kept silent about my sin, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long (the physical and emotional weight of unresolved guilt)
